Then a certain monk went to the Blessed One and, on arrival, having bowed down to him, sat to one side. As he was sitting there he said to the Blessed One:
-'Consummate in faculties, consummate in faculties,' it is said. To what extent is one consummate in faculties?"

Rồi một Tỷ-kheo đi đến Thế Tôn. Sau khi đến đãnh lễ Thế Tôn, rồi ngồi xuống một bên.
Ngồi xuống một bên, Tỷ-kheo ấy bạch Thế Tôn:
- "Các căn được thành tựu", như vậy được nói đến. Cho đến như thế nào, bạch Thế Tôn, các căn được thành tựu?

If a monk, while keeping track of arising & passing away with regard to the eye-faculty, becomes disenchanted with the eye-faculty;...
If, while keeping track of arising & passing away with regard to the ear-faculty...
...the nose-faculty...
...the tongue-faculty...
...the body faculty...
If a monk, while keeping track of arising & passing away with regard to the intellect-faculty, he becomes disenchanted with the intellect-faculty; and, disenchanted, he becomes dispassionate; through dispassion, he is fully released; with full release, there is the knowledge, 'Fully released'; he discerns that 'Birth is depleted, the holy life fulfilled, the task done. There is nothing further for this world,' it is to this extent that one is consummate in faculties.

...trong thiệt căn...
...trong thân căn...
Nếu Tỷ-kheo quán sanh diệt trong ý căn, vị ấy nhàm chán đối với ý căn. Do nhàm chán, vị ấy ly tham. Do ly tham, vị ấy được giải thoát. Trong sự giải thoát, khởi lên trí biết rằng: "Ta đã được giải thoát".Vị ấy biết rõ rằng: "Sanh đã tận, Phạm hạnh đã thành, những việc nên làm đã làm, không còn trở lui trạng thái này nữa".
Cho đến như vậy, Tỷ-kheo thành tựu các căn.
