free from hostility
among those who are hostile.
Among hostile people,
free from hostility we dwell.

viharaama anaaturaa.
 

198 Vui thay đời lành mạnh
Giữa bện hoạn trần gian
ta sống đời bình an
Giữa nhân thế tật nguyền

198 How very happily we live,
free from misery
among those who are miserable.
Among miserable people,
free from misery we dwell.

199 Vui thay lòng thanh thản
Giữa cuộc sống rộn ràng
Ta sống đời tịnh an
Giữa bôn ba tế toái

199 How very happily we live,
free from busyness
among those who are busy.
Among busy people,
free from busyness we dwell.

200 Susukha.m vata jiivaama
yesa.m no natthi ki~ncana.m
Piitibhakkhaa bhavissaama
devaa aabhassaraa yathaa.
 

200 Vui thay chúng ta sống
Không thủ đắc vật gì
Hưởng tịnh an pháp hỷ
Như trời Quang Âm Thiên

200 How very happily we live,
we who have nothing.
We will feed on rapture
like the Radiant gods.

201 Jaya.m vera.m pasavati
dukkha.m seti paraajito
Upasanto sukha.m seti
hitvaa jayaparaajaya.m. .
 

201 Chiến thắng sinh oán thù
Thất bại chuốc khổ ưu
Bậc tịch nhiên an lạc
Vượt ngoài mọi hơn thua.

201 Winning gives birth to hostility.
Losing, one lies down in pain.
The calmed lie down with ease,
having set
winning & losing
aside.

202 Natthi raagasamo aggi
natthi dosasamo kali
Natthi khandhasamaa dukkhaa
natthi santipara.m sukha.m  

202 Lửa nào sánh lửa tham
Ác nào hơn sân ác
Khổ nào qua khổ uẩn
Lạc nào bằng tịnh lạc

202 There's no fire like passion,
no loss like anger,
no pain like the aggregates,
no ease other than peace.

203 Jighacchaaparamaa rogaa sa'nkhaaraparamaa dukhaa
Eta.m ~natvaa yathaabhuuta.m nibbaa.na.m parama.m sukha.m.  

203 Đói khát, bệnh tuyệt chứng
Các hành khổ khôn cùng
Hiểu biết sự thật là thế
Niết Bàn: Lạc tối thượng

203 Hunger: the foremost illness.
Fabrications: the foremost pain.
For one knowing this truth
as it actually is,
Unbinding
is the foremost ease.

204 Aarogyaparamaa laabhaa santu.t.thiparama.m dhana.m
Vissaasaparamaa ~naatii nibbaa.na.m parama.m sukha.m.  

204 Vô bệnh, lợi tối thượng
Tri túc, giàu tối thượng
Thành tín, tình tối thượng
Niết bàn, lạc tối thượng

204 Freedom from illness: the foremost good fortune.
Contentment: the foremost wealth.
Trust: the foremost kinship.
Unbinding: the foremost ease.

205 Pavivekarasa.m piitvaa
rasa.m upasamassa ca
Niddaro hoti nippaapo
dhammapiitirasa.m piba.m.
 

205 Uống cam lộ độc cư
Nếm hương vị tịnh lạc
Vô khổ sầu, bất ác
Vị ấy hưởng Pháp hỷ

205 Drinking the nourishment,
the flavor,
of seclusion & calm,
one is freed from evil, devoid
of distress,
refreshed with the nourishment
of rapture in the Dhamma.

206 Saahu dassanamariyaana.m sannivaaso sadaa sukho Adassanena baalaana.m niccameva sukhii siyaa.
 

206 Lành thay được diện kiến,
Cộng trú bậc thánh hiền
An lạc thay đời sống
Không phải gần người ngu

206 It's good to see Noble Ones. Happy their company — always. Through not seeing fools constantly, constantly one would be happy.

207 Baalasa'ngatacaarii hi
diighamaddhaana socati
Dukkho baalehi sa.mvaaso
amitten-eva sabbadaa
Dhiiro ca sukhasa.mvaaso
~naatiina.m-va samaagamo.
 

207 Sống chung với người ngu
Như sống gần kẻ thù
Bị phiền lụy dai dẳng
Khổ thay hoàn cảnh ấy
Vui thay gần người trí
Như sống cùng quyến thuộc.

207 For, living with a fool,
one grieves a long time.
Painful is communion with fools,
as with an enemy —
always.
Happy is communion
with the enlightened,
as with a gathering of kin.

208 Tasmaa hi: -
Dhiira~nca pa~n~na~nca bahussuta~nca
Dhorayhasiila.m vatavantamaariya.m
Ta.m taadisa.m sappurisa.m sumedha.m
Bhajetha nakkhattapatha.m-va candimaa.
 

208 Do vậy với những ai
là hiền nhân trí giả
Bậc đa văn, tịnh giới
Bậc thuần hóa, thanh đức
Hãy thân cận, gần gủi
Tựa như trăng với sao.  

208 So:

the enlightened man —
discerning, learned,
enduring, dutiful, noble,
intelligent, a man of integrity:
follow him
— one of this sort —
as the moon, the path
of the zodiac stars.
